To raise Santo to Seixo

That it means this. Then a tradition for many years has been existing, and consists of that in the month of July, and whenever the climatology allows it, neighbors of all the towns of the parish, including us, they remove Santa Ana and San Antonio from the church of the Barcia, and in a religious procession - celebration, makes a route of ascent to the summit of the mountain (Seixo).

In the summit there is a stone cross, upon an enormous slab, and next to her the saints are placed and in the presence of the priest of the parish a ceremony in the field is celebrated. Once this one has finished, people do a small one celebration, and each one looks for a good shadow for a splendid lunch surrounded by nature and to pass an evening pleasant.

Of course, the saints return to Church where they will be until the next year.

The San Juan Night's

What happens in magical night of 23 of June, shortest of the summer? Traditionally, in all Spain, the San Juan's bonfire ignite, whose cleans and purifies the people of bad ghosts, during the rest of the year.

Nevertheless, exists an old tradition that consists of remove, without their owners know it, the cattle cars that were used formerly to work in the field, and to hide them or to take them to the center of the town or to leave them in a peculiar place. Without damaging them and with the only intention to spend one joke to its owners, they will have to walk to the following day, and to ask where they are its cattle car. The boys normally they make this joke, they are grouped and decide who are going to make the joke. The girls nevertheless, in this night, makes another old tradition, which we commented in the page of Legends.

Like the cattle cars, other joke usually in this night, it's the disarming of gates of fields or lands (whenever it is not an orchard), or the gates of the houses, and they hides in a peculiar place, without damaging them. With the passage of time, the use of cattle cars have diminished, and slowly they have been disappearing, for that reason in the last years single usually take off the gates in the San Juan night's.

Water mills

The mills have been a fundamental piece in the development of our towns through the time, thanks to them, the cereals, maize mainly, have been able to transform into flour, to elaborate bread, base of the old feeding, and could be sold or be changed by other goods or foods.

The people of greater age, indicate to us that formerly single a mill near the Borralleiro existed, in a place called " volta do lombo " and another one in the river " do Foxo ". These mills were near to Borralleiro, but enough distant to the people of Carballeira (about 3 km). nevertheless, the difficulty of the land which they had to cross loading of cereals, make difficult its use.

Later three mills in " As Raices " were constructed, one near the highway, that gave service to their proprietors, which received a small payment in species to be used by other people. Nowadays still they are conserved, although its state is not very good.

By means of the creation of a small prey, two mills in the Carballeira has made, of which single the most recent is conserved , gave service to this town and to Taboadelo. These two mills were private, and people paid with products to use them. With this the old mills "do Foxo" and "volta do lombo"; they were forgotten. Today the last one in bad conditions is only conserved.

Nowadays no of them is used, and been sad that they fall in the abandonment, we would have to conserve them, since they have helped us much in our development
